Aug 12, 2023Meteorologist Ginger Zee takes out her clip
Meteorologist Ginger Zee is keeping it real on air. The Good Morning America meteorologist took out her clip-in hair extension during a promo for the show on ABC7 News Bay Area.
"He had me pulling my hair out on live tv ... If @reggieaqui is gonna dress like me for Halloween… I want it to be AUTHENTIC ... I have way too much fun with the folks from @abc7newsbayarea every day when I do the promo for @goodmorningamerica … wish you all could see their beautiful spirits every day," read the caption.
The hair hijinks started after anchor Reggie Aqui requested something of Zee's so he could go as her for Halloween.
"Would it be possible to borrow something of yours that I could wear for my Halloween costume?"
Aqui was immediately met with an enthusiastic yes from Zee.
"I think that that is a fantastic idea," she said.
He went on to share some ideas of items he could borrow to pull off the look.
"Like a signature Ginger thing. We were thinking maybe like a ABC news weather jacket or something in that arena, think about it," said Aqui.
Before he could finish his thought, Zee decided to do him one better and proceeded to unclip her extension from her head in real time, earning a host of laughs from the anchors.
"That's it. And that's it. That's what we need," said Aqui's co-anchor Kumasi Aaron.
Zee went on to joke that she would be "popping it in the mail," so that Aqui would be able to make his Ginger Zee costume dreams a reality.
"I will get it back to you. I swear to you," Joked Aqui before closing out the broadcast.
"That's the spirit that we need for this Halloween. Ginger Zee we look forward to receiving that and can't wait for this Halloween," he said.
Fans couldn't get enough of the humorous but oh-so-real on-air moment.
"I love you so much MORE for this. You are so real," said one user.
"This is AWESOME! forget the hoops, the new phrase should be 'here hold my hair,'" shared another.
