A California wig shop lost thousands in specialized merchandise intended for women undergoing chemotherapy after thieves ransacked the store.

At 3:30 a.m. Monday security footage shows two masked burglars enter Strut Hair Solutions in Solana Beach and fill trash bags with what shop owner Helena Gibson said was $35,000 in hair extensions and wigs.

"One of the officers counted that they got 36 wigs and about 28 hair toppers and a couple extensions," Gibson told KUSI.

The hair pieces are made for women suffering from conditions that cause hair loss, including cancer, alopecia and COVID.

"All the mannequins were thrown on the ground," said store manager, Marisol Cortes. "It was just a shock to us to see our store vandalized like that type of way."

According to Gibson, a late-model White Chevy Silverado truck was seen leaving the scene, but no arrests have been made. San Diego Police Department are investigating the incident.
